Easter Sunday

...is the "real" Easter here in France, and today I spent it with a dear friend, my "american friend" aka Karen. So, hence the english, so that I'll be able to show her how very much it meant to me to have a good day, with a good friend.

Mixie and I got off to a good start, having perfect coffe and french pastries at good old Henry's Bar. Then i managed to assemble an oldfashioned easter flowerbouquet, complete with the green leaves, feathers and tulips to offer as a centerpiece to the lunchtable.
When Karen puts together a meal, it's always prfectly well-planned, and presented in a very eye-pleasing way, so I was happy to come early with my bouqouet in order to spend an agreable day. She has a bath-tub (!) so I started there with a long hot soak my body's been screaming for this past week. My week ended yestarday with a lunch-job from 11.00 to 18.00, so imagine how it felt to slide into that beautiful tub! Let's not dwell too long on the fact that I dyed my hair before the bath....it was supposed to come out a warm dark brown....well, it didn't. What it did come out was black...black bordering on blue....oh well, I dare say I get used to it seeing as I can't wash it out....

Anywho, our lovely lunch then, starters was oeufs mimosa, with home-made mayonnaise, followed by some very nice green asparaguses cooked 'til perfection. I'd managed to by two very decent bottles of a white Bourgogne, and they worked well with the menu. Main course was a Saumon en croute, that's a piece of salmon with trimmings baked into a pâte feuilletée...Mmm!

By this time we were so full up we decided to take a walk where Mr. and I usually walk Mixie in the mornings (you've seen the pictures by now..), it helped! We got back to Karen's ready to attack some coffee and her lemon-merigue pie.
The pie was delicious even though the lemon-cream came out just a tad on the heavy side. I just got home after this lovely day....I'll never eat again!

Karen, thank you, mille merci, for a perfectly soothing day after a somewhat shitty week!

This is surely the first, and last post in english so don't judge whatever spelling-faults and syntax-errors I probably let slip through here. Rest assured it won't happen again!

What a lovely set table and menu! I feel... like an amateur and a failure as a hostess, probably forever..
That salmon thing sounds lovely (everything with salmon sounds lovely in my salmon loving ears). Maybe I'll try it someday.
I wish a had a tub too... Maybe outside, in the summer, in the garden..

Mixie sure looks hungry, haha!

Right back at ya! Förresten är du en perfekt värdinna. Dina "afternoon-teas" slår allt!

Grazie mille, bellissima. Jo, en afternoon tea är svår att misslyckas med - i synnerhet om den innehåller champagne..
